Study: AfD voters are particularly present in social networks
Social media usage is particularly high among potential AfD voters: 86% of them are active there, followed by supporters of the FDP (83%), the Left Party, and the Free Voters (82% each). This is the result of the “Social Media Atlas 2024” study by the P.E.R. Agency. Among voters of the Sarah Wagenknecht (BSW) coalition, as well as the CDU/CSU, SPD, and Greens, usage is also significantly higher at around 77-79%.
Interestingly, WhatsApp and YouTube are the most popular channels across all parties, while TikTok and Telegram are particularly popular among voters of right-wing parties such as the AfD or the Free Voters.
A notable difference is evident in the credibility of traditional media: only 41% of potential voters of right-wing parties trust information from newspapers and magazines, compared to 66% of centrist voters.
